CHERVON VATCS ... Vehicle Activated Traffic Calming Signs
CHEVRON VATCS … Where its is not possible to locate an advance warning of the curve with a VATCS or where the severity of the curve calls for additional advisory warning, DV have developed the Chevron VATCS. The product combines the exact same vehicle speed activated principles of the VATCS.
The first Chevron incorporates the radar vehicle detection and when triggered by excessive speed communicates via a hard wire data link with all other chevrons on the curve to create an interactive directional warning aid to the approaching driver of the curvature/deviation of the road. The hard wire link also ensures uniform luminosity across all chevrons in the chain.
The Chevron VATCS is available in application specific sizes to suit road speed and in 110V AC or 24VDC powered versions. The product is also available in a steady burn version as well as vehicle activated.
The product is currently being trialed in the United Kingdom and British Columbia to determine its long term effectiveness, but DV are confident the philosophy behind the technology and its close relation to the all ready proven VATCS product will ensure this a tool traffic engineers should consider adding to their current toolbox of safety aids.
